Matt Erickson started racing 16 years ago, when his parents decided to put him on the race track to keep him from street racing. Matt immediately made his presence known upon his arrival into the race world.

In 2003, he became “Rookie of the Year” in the Super Stock Division. Not slowing down, he earned the Super Stock Track Championship in 2004 and held onto that title for 3 consecutive years. Keeping the pace but changing the track, Matt came in the top 1% in America, and 10th in California in the NASCAR Wheelen All American Series at Madera Speedway!

Matt started collecting championships at Madera Speedway, coming out on top in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018. Matt says that the key to winning a championship is being consistant. He is not afraid to take risks and utilizes his quick thinking skills to make split second decisions on the track in order to succeed.

If all that doesn’t start your engine, Team Erickson Racing started with just Matt and his dad, Rick, who work together to build and maintain a competitive racing team. Seeking advice and knowledge from experts, they have built two championship cars from the ground up.

In addition to building the cars themselves, Matt now rents out his previous championship car and is eager to help the young drivers grow into champions just like he has. Matt is always willing to help other drivers, even if it means staying up until 3am to help a fellow competitor with their set-up.

The Erickson’s often say that if it doesn’t have to do with the blue 42 machine, it’s gonna wait til race season is over! I like to call that dedication!
